How to be Comfy

Dressing in layers is the best way to stay warm and comfortable in the various offices, classrooms and laboratories at Winterthur. Remember that collections storage spaces – where you will often be working - are markedly cooler than exhibition galleries or classrooms. Casual, professional outfits are suggested, but not loungewear or streetwear.

Closed-toe and rubber-soled shoes are required in the historic rooms of the house. For the days when you would like to venture outside for inspiration or respite (and you will because the springtime gardens are glorious!), please bring sturdy walking shoes. The Winterthur gardens and trailways are accessible to you every day from sunrise to sunset.

Business attire is appropriate for dinners and the field trip.

About Orientation Day, Sunday, April 12, 2026
